Origin
The Calathea makoyana 6/tray originates from the tropical rainforest of Brazil. Here, the plant grows in the shady understory of the forest, where it is protected from direct sunlight. Also known as the Peacock Plant, it has become a popular indoor plant in many different climates around the world.
Characteristics
The Calathea makoyana 6/tray is characterised by its unique, distinctive leaves with a pattern resembling the feathers of a peacock. The plant can reach a height of 60 centimetres and has elongated, wavy leaves with a green top and a purplish underside. The leaves have the remarkable feature of closing at night and opening during the day, giving the plant the extraordinary ability to move with the light.
Care
As part of its care, it is recommended to place the Calathea makoyana 6/tray in a location where it is not exposed to direct sunlight. The plant thrives best at normal room temperature, between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius. The soil should be kept constantly moist, but not saturated. It is also advisable to keep the humidity high for this plant, for example by regularly spraying the plant with water.
