Origin
The Hoya wayetii 'Tricolor' is a plant originally from Southeast Asia, where it predominantly grows in the tropical rainforest. In the Philippines, where the plant is abundant, it is often referred to as the 'Porcelain Flower' or 'Wax Plant'.
Characteristics
The Hoya wayetii 'Tricolor' is characterised by its elongated, fleshy leaves with a soft, suede-like texture. The leaves are green on top and turn a pink to burgundy colour underneath. Also typical for this plant are the notable flowers; bright white in colour with a pink to purple centre.
Care
The Hoya wayetii 'Tricolor' generally requires a bright, indirect light environment and a relatively high humidity. The plants appreciate a well-drained, organically enriched soil mix and adequate ventilation. During the growing period - in late spring and summer - the plant needs more water, while the plant requires less water during the resting phase, in late autumn and winter.
