Origin
The Cambria Nelly Isler is a type of orchid that originates from South America and the Caribbean. This versatile and lively plant is part of the Orchidaceae family, housing over 26,000 species. Although the exact species name is still a subject of debate, the plant is often referred to as Oncidium hybrid, while the nickname 'Nelly Isler' pays homage to a Swiss orchid breeder from the 20th century.
Characteristics
The Cambria Nelly Isler has several distinguishing characteristics. It possesses lance-shaped leaves and grows in a pseudobulb, similar to an onion. The plant produces beautiful and finely arranged flowers that range in colour from red, orange to brown. These flowers are known for their strong and sweet fragrance.
Care
The care of the Cambria Nelly Isler requires some attention. It prefers bright, indirect light and consistent temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. During the growing period, mainly in spring and summer, the plant needs regular watering but in the resting period, autumn and winter, watering needs to be reduced. Importantly, the plant should be planted in well-draining potting soil to prevent root rot.
