Origin
The Guzmania Diana is a tropical indoor plant that originally comes from the rainforests of Central and South America. This plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family, known as the pineapple family. The plant was named after Anastasio Guzman, a Spanish pharmacist and naturalist who made significant contributions to botanical science in the 18th century.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Diana is characterized by its glossy, green leaves that grow from the base of the plant and form a rosette. In the middle of this rosette grows a bright red, elongated flower that gives the plant its exotic appearance. The plant reaches an average height of 50 centimetres and blooms once during its life cycle, with the blooming period lasting for several months.
Care
The care of the Guzmania Diana requires some dedication. The plant prefers a warm, humid environment - similar to its original habitat in the rainforest. Direct sunlight should be avoided, but the plant does need a lot of indirect light to grow. Water should be given by pouring it not onto the soil, but into the chalice of the leaves. It's important not to place the plant in an environment that is too cold, as it cannot tolerate temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius.
