Origin
The Bromelia Red, also known as Guzmania lingulata, is a tropical plant originally from Central and South America. It is found primarily in rainforests where it nests in the branches of trees. This plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family, which includes over 3,000 similar species of plants.
Characteristics
The Bromelia Red is distinguished by its unique red flower, which is actually a bract that protects the actual flowers. The plant has glossy green leaves that grow in a rosette. They can reach a height of 30 to 60 cm and the leaves can grow up to 45 cm long. The blooming period of this species is usually between winter and spring.
Care
The Bromelia Red thrives best in a bright location, but not in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves. The plant likes high humidity and needs little water. It is recommended to water it once a week, ideally pouring the water into the leaf rosette. This plant has no need for fertilisation and thrives best at a temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.
