Origin
The Bromelia Pink, officially known as Aechmea fasciata, is originally a tropical plant that mainly occurs in the wild in Central and South America. In particular, in countries such as Brazil, Peru and Ecuador, the plant can be found often. The bromeliad family consists of approximately 50 genera and more than 2000 species, of which the Bromelia Pink is one.
Characteristics
Typical of the Bromelia Pink are its brightly coloured leaves and spectacular flowers. The plant is characterized by the long, leathery leaves with silver bands that grow from a rosette and the striking pink-purple inflorescence to which the plant owes its name. The Bromelia Pink can reach a height of 50 to 100 centimetres and the flowers can be as high as 40 centimetres.
Care
To grow optimally, the Bromelia Pink needs a light position, but direct sunlight should be avoided as this can burn the leaves. The plant needs relatively little water, it is recommended to fill the cup in the centre of the plant with rainwater once a week. The Bromelia Pink does not require extra fertilization and the optimum air temperature lies between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. The plant is not frost-resistant, it cannot withstand frost.
