Origin
The Vriesea 'Conchita' is a variety within the Bromeliaceae family. The plant is originally from Central and South America, where it grows in the moist, tropical rainforest.
Characteristics
The Vriesea 'Conchita' can be recognised by its striking, sword-shaped flower spikes that can bloom throughout the year. The plant has a rosette of leaves, from which yellow, orange or red flowers appear. The leaf of the plant can be up to 80 cm wide and is green with brown or red markings.
Care
The Vriesea 'Conchita' is an easily maintained indoor plant that thrives in indirect sunlight. The plant requires a high humidity, just like in the tropical rainforest where it originally comes from. Watering is not done on the soil, but in the tube of leaves. Vriesea 'Conchita' requires a constantly warm temperature of around 20 °C. Periodic fertilisation with a liquid plant food can enhance growth and flowering.
