Alocasia 'Polly'

Origin
The Guzmania Sweet originates from Central and South America where it is part of the bromeliad family. This rainforest plant predominantly grows in the shadowy undergrowth of the jungle, affixed to the trunks of large trees.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Sweet is a popular house plant with a red-orange blooming crown, which sharply contrasts with its green leaves. The plant has long, narrow, shiny leaves that grow in a rosette. The height of the flower stem can vary from 40 to 60 centimetres. The unique blooming pattern, whereby the actual flowers are hidden among the bright bracts, is characteristic of this plant.
Care
The Guzmania Sweet thrives best in a warm room with little direct sunlight. This plant requires high humidity, which can be achieved by regularly spraying the plant with lukewarm water. The water should be poured into the heart of the plant, where it is naturally absorbed. The potting soil, on the other hand, should stay dry as the roots of the Guzmania Sweet usually do not survive in constantly moist soil.
