Origin
The Guzmania Priscilla is a member of the Bromelia family, originally from Central and South America. This tropical plant species can be found in countries such as Panama, Ecuador and Peru. The plant's name pays tribute to Anastasio Guzman, an 18th-century Spanish pharmacist and naturalist.
Characteristics
Guzmania Priscilla distinguishes itself through its impressive, bright, star-shaped flowers of yellow, orange or red. This flower grows from the centre of a rosette of green leaves. The plant can reach a height varying from 10 to 18 inches, while the leaves extend to 24 inches in width. The flowering lifespan typically lasts about 5 to 6 weeks.
Care
The care of the Guzmania Priscilla requires a setting with high humidity and indirect sunlight. The ideal temperature is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. The plant also has a clear preference for rainwater and the soil should always be slightly moist. It's advisable to water at least once a week. Dry air and direct sunlight can cause harm to the plant.
