Origin
The Anthurium Livium, better known as the flamingo plant, originates from the rainforests of Colombia. The plant is part of the Araceae family, a family consisting of more than a thousand different varieties. This type of plant can mainly be found in the tropical areas of South America.
Characteristics
The Anthurium Livium is particularly famous for its spectacular colours and its heart-shaped leaves. The plant has a striking method of flowering with a coloured bract that can often be red, pink, purple, white or green in colour. The leaves of the plant are large, shiny and have a deep green colour. The plant flowers all year round, with a peak of flowering during the spring and summer.
Care
The Anthurium Livium prefers a warm and semi-shaded environment. Watering about once a week is usually sufficient, but it is important that the soil dries out well between watering. The soil in which the plant is placed must be well-drained to prevent root rot. It is also advisable to feed the plant with a slow-release fertilizer during the growing season.
