Origin
The Anthurium Mix originates from the tropical rainforest of Central and South America. The plant is particularly prevalent in Colombia and Ecuador. It is a plant from the Araceae family, which naturally grow and bloom under the leaf canopy of larger plants and trees in these areas.
Characteristics
A striking characteristic of the Anthurium Mix is the colourful inflorescence, better known as the bracts. The actual flowers of the plant are small and grow on the spadix of these bracts. The colours of the blooms can vary from red, pink to white, orange and purple. The plants have a shiny, leathery leaf that, in combination with the flowers, give the plant an exotic appearance.
Care
Anthurium Mix needs warmth and light, but cannot tolerate direct sunlight. The plant does best in a location with lots of indirect light. The optimal temperature for the Anthurium is between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. The plant needs regular watering, but it is essential to prevent the plant from sitting in water. To encourage the plant to bloom, fertiliser can be applied in spring and summer. It is important to dust the leaves to keep the plant healthy and shiny.
