Origin
The Curcuma alismatifolia Siam Sisto, also known as the Siam Tulip, is originally from Asia. It is a plant species from the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and is primarily found in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. The plant is named after the Italian botanist, Tommaso di Carpegna Falconieri, who first described the genus Curcuma.

Characteristics
The Curcuma alismatifolia Siam Sisto is a perennial plant with a striking blooming habit. The plant produces large, brightly coloured flowers that can be purple, pink or white. The distinctive flowers, which somewhat resemble a tulip, appear late in the spring until the early summer. The leaf of this plant is broad and lance-shaped with a deep green colour that provides a beautiful contrast with the colourful flowers.

Care
The Curcuma alismatifolia Siam Sisto requires a well-draining soil and should be planted in full sun or partial shade. The plant needs a warm climate to grow well and dislikes frost. During the growing and flowering period, this plant needs regular watering, but it is important to avoid overwatering. Outside the flowering period, watering can be reduced. The plant also needs occasional fertiliser to stay healthy and bloom.
