Origin
The Tillandsia Amira is a plant species within the Bromeliad family. The Amira originates from the desert-like regions of North and Central America. These types of environments offer little resources, leading this unique plant species to learn to survive on stone, trees and other structures.
Characteristics
The Tillandsia Amira distinguishes itself by its elongated and narrow grey-green leaves that gracefully descend from the plant. These leaves provide the plant with grip and the ability to draw water and nutrients from the air. Flowers grow directly from the centre of the leaf rosette and are often vibrant pink or purple in colour. The growth process of the Tillandsia Amira is relatively slow.
Care
The care of the Tillandsia Amira is simple due to its air plant characteristics. A light location without direct sunlight is optimal, but some morning or evening sun is tolerated. As for watering, it is sufficient to mist with water once a week. The plant is not frost hardy and should be kept indoors at temperatures below 10°C. Fertilising is only infrequently required, but it can support the plant's growth.
