Origin
The Guzmania Tala originates from Central and South America and is predominantly found in countries such as Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador. This plant belongs to the bromeliad family, a family of monocotyledonous plants. Growing wild in their natural habitat, they are primarily found in the tropical forests, mainly on tree branches where they function as epiphytes.
Characteristics
The Guzmania Tala is known for its spectacular flowers that usually come in striking shades such as red, yellow, orange or pink. The plants form a rosette of thin, long leaves that merge into a bright, flower-like top. This can grow up to 30 centimetres high. The Guzmania Tala's flower is durable and can stay in bloom for several weeks.
Care
The care of the Guzmania Tala requires attention to the environment in which it grows. The plant demands high humidity and lots of indirect light, but cannot stand direct sunlight. Additionally, it's crucial that the plant is placed in well-draining soil to prevent root rot. A watering method often employed is filling the rosette with water. In this case, it's vital that the water is regularly refreshed to prevent stagnant water and consequently, rot.
