Origin
The Pilea Moon Valley, also known as Pilea Mollis, originally hails from Central and South America. This tropical plant species is part of the nettle family Urticaceae. Most of its relatives can be found in tropical rainforests.
Characteristics
The Pilea Moon Valley is a compact, green indoor plant. The leaves of the Pilea are deeply crinkled, making it unique within its species. The leaves are dark green in colour with a hint of bronze. Its growth pattern is also remarkable, as the Pilea grows quickly and spreads wide, keeping it relatively low.
Care
Like other tropical plants, the Pilea Moon Valley requires high humidity and likes a light to semi-shaded spot. The plant needs regular watering, but it is important that the soil dries up properly between waterings to prevent root rot. This plant is not frost hardy and thrives at a consistent room temperature. Finally, it is recommended to regularly feed the plant with a liquid indoor plant fertilizer.
