Origin
The Begonia Rex Red Kiss belongs to the Begonia family and has its origins in the humid subtropical and tropical regions of Asia, Africa, and South America. This houseplant is also known as the Rex Begonia.
Characteristics
The Begonia Rex Red Kiss is noticeable for its colourful, thick hairy leaves that come in various shades of red, pink, silver, green, or greyish. The leaves have a pronounced vein pattern giving the plant its exuberant, regal appearance. The flowers that the plant produces are (in relation to the leaf) rather inconspicuous.
Care
For the optimal growth of the Begonia Rex Red Kiss, a constant temperature and humidity are important. Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal for the plant, however, direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn. The soil should always be slightly moist, but too much water should be avoided to prevent root rot. Preferably water the plant along the sides of the planter and not in the middle, to prevent the stems and leaves from getting wet, which could lead to decay and disease.
