Origin
The Coleus Spacecake originates from subtropical areas of Africa and Asia. It is a cultivated variant of the Coleus family, known for its variety of colours and patterns. The Spacecake variant is the result of extensive selection and crossing of various species within this family.
Characteristics
The Coleus Spacecake is a leaf plant that is characterised by its richness of colours. The leaf is multi-coloured with combinations of green, red, purple, and yellow. Depending on the care and circumstances, the plant can grow up to 60 cm in height. Furthermore, the plant produces small flowers, but these are generally removed to promote the growth of the colourful leaves.
Care
The care of the Coleus Spacecake requires regular attention. The plant needs a light location, but must be protected from direct sunlight. The soil should be well-drained and always slightly moist. Moreover, the plant requires high humidity, which can be achieved by misting or placing the plant on a tray with moist pebbles. A low temperature or a too dry air greatly increases the risk of leaf drop.
