Origin
The Alocasia Melo is a rarely grown member of the Alocasia family and is native to Borneo in Malaysia. This unique house plant originates from the rainforest, where it grows under the leaf canopy of larger trees. The Alocasia Melo is also known as 'Alocasia Ruwet'.
Characteristics
The Alocasia Melo is characterised by its thick, wrinkled, dark green armoured leaves that feel somewhat rough to the surface. The leaves of the Alocasia Melo are heart-shaped and usually reach a size of about 20 centimetres. The plant grows in width and can reach up to one meter in width.
Care
The Alocasia Melo has a preference for shady spots, and is therefore suitable for indoor cultivation. It needs well-draining soil to prevent root rot. It is important to let the soil dry out between watering, as the plant can't handle too much moisture. The Alocasia Melo likes high humidity, so regular spraying is recommended.
