Origin
Peperomia caperata 'Cayenne', commonly just known as 'Cayenne', has its origin in South America, where it grows wild in the rainforest. This green gem is a member of the Piperaceae family, which encompasses over 1000 species. The plant has spread across the world over the years thanks to its appealing appearance and easy care.

Characteristics
'Cayenne' is a compact, low-growing plant that often does not grow taller than 20 centimetres in height. The plant's leaves are heart-shaped, wrinkled, with an interesting silver-green colour and red accents. It blooms sporadically with slender, upright flower stems that carry small, inconspicuous flowers. It's a long-lived plant that, with the right care, can continue to grow for many years.

Care
'Cayenne' prefers moderate light conditions and does not tolerate direct sunlight well. In winter, it is important to keep the temperature above 15 degrees Celsius. 'Cayenne' likes an evenly moist soil, but does not cope well with overwatering. Therefore, a well-draining soil is recommended. The plant has a rest period in the winter during which watering can be reduced. Although 'Cayenne' is not particularly susceptible to pests, incorrect care can cause it to suffer from aphids and spider mites.
