Origin
The Sansevieria Tiger crown is a houseplant that originally comes from West Africa. In its natural habitat, the plant primarily thrives in dry and rocky regions. This hardy plant is also sometimes referred to as the Mother-in-Law's Tongue, due to the long, sharp leaves that resemble a sharp tongue.
Characteristics
The distinctive feature of the Sansevieria Tiger crown is the bright, vertical stripes on the dark green leaves. These stripes give the plant its nickname 'tiger crown'. The tall, firm leaves originate from a point in the ground, hence the 'crown' in the name. On average, the leaves grow between 70 and 90 centimetres in length.
Care
Caring for the Sansevieria Tiger crown is relatively simple, partly because the plant doesn't require much water. It's important to let the soil dry out before watering it again. The plant thrives in bright light, but can also survive in a darker corner of the room. Ideal temperatures for this plant are between 15-23°C. This plant doesn't need any special nutrients, but during the growing period, it will appreciate a light fertiliser.
