Origin
The Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans', better known as the Maidenhair fern, originally comes from the tropical regions of South America. Here, this type of fern grows in both the rainforest and on rocky slopes. In this humid, warm environment, the plant is capable of growing into a lush fern.
Characteristics
Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans' distinguishes itself from many other ferns with its fine, graceful leaves. This delicate fern has bright green, almost translucent leaves divided into numerous small leaflets. The leaves grow out of black, wire-like stalks, providing an elegant effect. The plant can grow up to a height of 40 to 50 centimetres, and under favourable conditions, it can reach a width of 60 centimetres.
Care
The care of Adiantum raddianum 'Fragrans' requires some attention, given the tropical origin of the plant. This fern thrives best in an environment with high humidity and plenty of indirect sunlight. When watering, it is important to keep the soil slightly moist without allowing the plant to stand in water. The ideal temperature for this type of fern ranges between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
