Origin
The Erysimum linifolium, also known as the Wallflower, originates from the regions of Southern Europe. It is a plant species in the mustard family (Brassicaceae). Although the plant originally occurs in Mediterranean areas, it has nevertheless become widespread and can now be found in many parts of the world.
Characteristics
Erysimum linifolium is a perennial plant known for its long blooming period, running from early spring until autumn. The plant produces intensely scented, purple-like flowers. The height can vary between 30 to 70 cm, and the plant has narrow, lance-shaped leaves. The flowers grow in a long, straight cluster on sturdy stems, causing the plant to require relatively little space.
Care
The Erysimum linifolium thrives best in full sun and on well-drained soil. In order to ensure healthy growth, regular watering is necessary, but overwatering should be avoided. The plant is quite hardy in winter, but protection against extreme cold may be necessary in harsher climates. It is recommended to remove faded flower stems to extend the blooming time.
