Origin
The Vinca minor Marie, best known as the Lesser Periwinkle Marie, is originally a Mediterranean plant. This plant has been used for centuries in nature, but also as a garden plant. The humble beginnings of this plant are in Europe and North Africa, but it has spread worldwide through cultural domestication.

Characteristics
The Vinca minor Marie is known for its evergreen leaves and blue-purple flowers. These star-shaped pattern flowers bloom from early spring until autumn. The plant can reach a height of 15 to 25 cm and a width of 25 to 45 cm. Under favourable conditions, this species can flourish outdoors and has even become an invasive species in some countries.

Care
The Lesser Periwinkle Marie is easy to care for. The plant prefers semi-shade to full shade and a soil that drains well. Although the plant is winter hardy, it performs best in temperate climates. To keep the plant compact and healthy, it is recommended to prune regularly and not to let the soil dry out. Under normal circumstances, it should only be watered during drought. Watering during wet periods can cause root rot.
