Origin
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Caucasica', better known as the 'Caucasica' cherry laurel, originates from the area around the Black Sea, ranging from Albania to Iran. This tree species belongs to the rose family and is most commonly found in mountainous forests. However, it has also successfully adapted to gardens and parks all over the world.

Characteristics
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Caucasica' is a fast-growing shrub or small tree, which can reach heights of four to six meters. With its shiny, dark green leaves and white flowering in the spring, it is a commonly used element in hedges and landscape design. The black berry-shaped fruits that appear in late autumn attract various bird species.

Care
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Caucasica' prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location, and does well on various types of soil, as long as it is well-drained. Although it is reasonably drought-tolerant, it enjoys regular watering, especially in dry periods. Pruning is best carried out in late spring after flowering, to stimulate growth and maintain a dense, compact hedge shape.
