Origin
The Ilex meserveae Blue Maid, also known as the Blue Holly, has its origin in North America. It was specifically developed by the grower Kathleen Meserve in the 1950s, from whom the plant derives its name. The Blue Maid was created through a crossbreeding of various Ilex species, to promote resistant and hardy characteristics.
