Origin
The Callicarpa bodinieri 'Profusion', also known under the name Beautyberry, is a plant species that originated from China. The plant was first discovered by the French missionary Emile Bodinier in the late 19th century and is named after him. 'Profusion' is a selected cultivar of this species, which is distinguished by its abundant fruiting.

Characteristics
The Callicarpa bodinieri 'Profusion' is a striking, deciduous shrub that is most known for its noticeable, lilac-purple berries that appear in the autumn. The shrub can reach a height of 2 to 3 meters and is usually just as wide as it is tall. The dark green, lance-shaped leaves turn to an attractive bronzy colour in the autumn. Flowers are small, light pink to lavender colour and appear in early summer.

The Callicarpa bodinieri 'Profusion' thrives best in well-draining soil and in a sunny to semi-shady spot. Although it is tolerant of various soil types, it prefers a moist, well-draining soil to grow optimally.
