Acorus gramineus 'Ogon'
F00003789
Origin
The Molinia arundinacea 'Transparent', often also known as Purple moor-grass, originates from widespread areas of Europe and Asia. Here, it is mainly found in wet conditions such as marshes, meadows, and peatlands. The plant belongs to the grass family, or Poaceae.
Characteristics
Molinia arundinacea 'Transparent' is a tall ornamental grass with a distinct transparent shape, generally reaching 150 to 200 centimetres in height. The foliage is green in colour and turns an attractive golden hue in autumn. The flowers of the plant are displayed in an abundance of airy, hanging panicles that beautifully sift through the light.
Care
Purple moor-grass is an easy-to-care-for plant that prefers full sun and well-draining soil. It is drought-tolerant and can survive temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius, making it a robust choice for colder climates. Every spring, the plant should be cut back to promote new growth. Despite its vigorous growth, it is susceptible to some fungal infections and foliar diseases, necessitating regular monitoring and preventive treatment.
