DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Silver Cloud' originally comes from Asia, mainly East Asia, and in its natural environment it is primarily found in meadows, rolling hills, and in the mountains. This species is one of the many varieties of the Miscanthus sinensis, also known as the Chinese Silver Grass.

Characteristics
M. sinensis 'Silver Cloud' is a compact growing variant with a height that varies from 1.5 to 2 meters. It has blue-green leaves that change to yellow in the autumn. Its most striking characteristic, however, is the massive, silver-white plumes that stick out above the foliage and create a cloud-like effect, hence the nickname 'Silver Cloud'. It bears its lush plumes from the late summer to the early autumn.

Care
This plant is hardly demanding and is considered low-maintenance. It grows best in full sun and well-draining soil, although it can also withstand some shade. It is winter-hardy and can survive well in cold weather conditions, but needs to be protected against hard wind which can snap the long stems. Although pruning is not essential, it can be done in early spring to stimulate new growth. Regular watering is especially recommended during dry periods.
