Origin
The Euonymus japonicus 'Aureomarginatus', also known as the Japanese Spindle, originates from East Asia. Japan, China, and Korea are areas where this species occurs naturally. It is a plant from the Spindle family, or Euonymus, which consists of approximately 130 to 170 different species.
Characteristics
Euonymus japonicus 'Aureomarginatus' is an attractive and hardworking evergreen shrub with leathery leaves. These leaves distinguish themselves by their light green colour, bordered with a thin, vibrant yellow edge. This shrub can grow to a height of 1 to 3 meters and a width of 1 meter. Thanks to its dense growth, the shrub is particularly suitable as a hedge plant.
Care
This plant thrives best when planted in a well-draining soil, preferably slightly on the alkaline side. Full sun to partial shade would be ideal for the optimal growth of the Euonymus japonicus 'Aureomarginatus'. The plant is hardy, but can suffer damage during extreme frost. The Euonymus japonicus 'Aureomarginatus' can be easily pruned in both spring and autumn to maintain its shape.
