4PEOBBP07
Origin
The Peperomia caperata 'Montevideo' is originally found in South America, specifically in the humid, tropical areas of Brazil where this plant species is native. The plant belongs to the Piperaceae family, also known as the pepper family.
Characteristics
A distinctive characteristic of the Peperomia caperata 'Montevideo' is its leathery, wrinkled leaves with a heart-shaped base. These leaves, which have a dark green colour, are possibly the most striking characteristic of the plant. The plant generally blooms with small, inconspicuous flowers that protrude above the leaf canopy. The plant remains relatively small and typically reaches a height of no more than 25 centimeters.
Care
The Peperomia caperata 'Montevideo' requires a humus-rich, well-drained soil and thrives best in indirect, bright light. It is recommended to water the plant moderately, as overwatering can cause root rot. The foliage of the plant likes high humidity, so it may also be useful to spray the plant regularly. The plant has no need for a nutritional supplement and does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C.
