Origin
The Festuca gautieri 'Amigreen', is a type of ornamental grass that originated in the high mountains of Southwest Europe. This variety of Festuca gautieri, one of the 300 variants of fescue grass, owes its name 'Amigreen' to the consistent green colour that the grass maintains throughout the year.

Characteristics
The Festuca gautieri 'Amigreen' is a compact, low-growing ornamental grass that distinguishes itself by its very dense growth. The small, thin, thread-like leaves range from deep green to blue-green and retain this colour also in winter. The plant produces in the summer months small amounts of inconspicuous blooms that contribute to the decorative value of the plant. The growth height of the Festuca gautieri 'Amigreen' grass varies between 15 and 20 centimetres.

Care
Festuca gautieri 'Amigreen' is a low-maintenance ornamental grass that can grow in both full sun and semi-shade. It tolerates a wide range of soil types, but prefers well-drained soil with adequate nutrition and moisture. Although this grass is fairly drought-tolerant, regular watering during dry periods will contribute to healthy plant growth. Pruning in early spring is advised to maintain the shape of the plant and stimulate new growth.
