Juniperus squamata 'Holger'
F00003365
Origin
The Photinia x fraseri Pink Marble, also known as the Red Tip Photinia, originated from a cross between two plant species, the Photinia glabra and Photinia serratifolia. The plant, which belongs to the Rosaceae family, originally comes from Asia and North America.
Characteristics
This shrub, which is very popular in ornamental borders and hedges, is best known for its glossy variegated leaves that are green with white and red. It has a dense growth habit and can reach a height of 2 to 3 metres when mature. In the spring, small white flowers appear, which are replaced by red berries in the autumn.
Care
The Photinia x fraseri Pink Marble requires little maintenance, but does have specific preferences. It likes nutritious, well-draining soil but can also grow in dry soil. The plant performs best in full sun or partial shade. Moreover, this shrub prefers a sheltered growing place, because it is sensitive to cold wind. Pruning is recommended after flowering to encourage denser branching and maintain the shape.
