Origin
Asparagus setaceus plumosus originates from South Africa. In its natural habitat, it grows in forests and along forest edges. The plant belongs to the asparagus family, Asparagaceae. Asparagus setaceus is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental plant, both indoors and outdoors.
Characteristics
The plant features fine, soft, feathery, fern-like cladodes. The stems are thin, flexible, and can develop long shoots. This species is capable of producing small white flowers and, later, black berries, although this rarely occurs when grown as a houseplant.
Care
The plant prefers a bright position out of direct sunlight. Asparagus setaceus tolerates moderate to high humidity. Water regularly, but avoid keeping the potting soil constantly wet. The ideal temperature for this plant is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
