Origin
The Blechnum gibbum, also known as the Silver Lady fern, is a fern species native to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. This tropical plant is predominantly found in moist and warm areas where there is abundant rainfall. The Silver Lady has also spread to other parts of the world where the tropical climate is similar.

Characteristics
The Blechnum gibbum has distinctive, glossy fronds that are feather-like and a rich green colour. The fern can grow up to one metre high and has a long stem called a rachis. This stem is quite thick and short, causing the fronds to grow in a compact bush. The leaf of the Blechnum gibbum is ribbed, with the ribs running parallel to the length of the leaf.

Care
In terms of care, the Blechnum gibbum requires a lot of light, but not direct sunlight. The plant thrives at temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. During the summer, the Blechnum gibbum needs to be regularly sprayed with water, while less water is required in the winter. In general, the plant requires little maintenance, but regular inspections for pests and diseases are recommended.
