DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
Dypsis lutescens, commonly known as the Areca palm, originates from the humid tropical forests of Madagascar. In its natural habitat, it grows in a warm and humid climate with plenty of shade provided by surrounding vegetation. Since the 19th century, the plant has been introduced worldwide as an ornamental species in homes and offices. In various tropical and subtropical regions, it is also planted outdoors as a decorative feature.

Characteristics
Dypsis lutescens is a multi-stemmed palm that can reach up to three metres in height when grown as a pot plant. Its leaves are light green to yellow-green, feather-like, and arch gracefully downwards. The trunks are slender and light yellow, somewhat reminiscent of bamboo. The plant grows in upright clusters, with new trunks constantly emerging from the base. When mature, it may develop small yellow flowers, followed by small seed fruits.

Care
Dypsis lutescens prefers a bright spot without direct sunlight. Regular watering is important, ensuring that the potting soil remains slightly moist. The plant does not tolerate prolonged drought or excess water at the roots. High humidity encourages healthy growth. The ideal temperature for this palm is between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius.
