Ficus lyrata
3-Stem
4FILYR021
Origin
The Ficus lyrata originates from the tropical rainforests of West Africa. In the wild, this plant primarily grows in countries such as Cameroon, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast. There, it grows as a tree and can reach considerable heights in nature.
Characteristics
The Ficus lyrata is a green leaf plant characterised by large, leathery leaves with a pronounced vein structure. The leaves are dark green and have a distinctive, violin-shaped form. In planter sizes between 240 and 260 cm, the plant develops into a tall and impressive specimen. The trunk of the plant is sturdy and upright, sometimes branching in larger examples.
Care
The Ficus lyrata requires a position with plenty of indirect light. The soil should be kept moderately moist, ensuring the roots are not exposed to prolonged wetness. It tolerates a constant room temperature well, but cold draughts should be avoided. The plant needs stable humidity, and does not tolerate extended periods of drought. Occasionally wiping the leaves free of dust will help to maintain the plant’s condition.
