Origin
The Ficus lyrata is a tropical plant native to West Africa. In its natural environment, it mainly grows in the rainforest, where it develops into a large tree. Ficus lyrata belongs to the mulberry family (Moraceae). In its natural habitat, the plant can reach impressive heights and forms a dense crown of leaves.

Characteristics
Ficus lyrata has large, glossy leaves that are distinctively fiddle-shaped. The leaves have a leathery texture and can grow up to 45 centimetres long. The leaf veins are clearly visible and the leaf edges are slightly wavy. The plant usually develops a single trunk with a bushy cluster of leaves at the top.

Care
Ficus lyrata prefers a bright spot, ideally with indirect sunlight. A constant temperature between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius is recommended. Regular watering is necessary, ensuring the potting soil remains slightly moist without allowing the roots to stand in water. Humidity and sufficient space are important for healthy growth. Fertilisation is particularly needed during the growing season.
