Origin
The Abies nordmanniana, better known as the Nordmann fir, is indigenous to the mountainous regions of the eastern Black Sea. This includes the countries Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Russia. Despite its origin, this tree also thrives in other parts of the world, particularly in Northern Europe.

Characteristics
The Abies nordmanniana is an evergreen conifer that can reach up to 60 meters in height. The tree has a pyramidal crown, and the needles are glossy dark green and have a soft texture. In mature specimens, the cones, which can reach up to 20 cm in length, are predominantly brown. The unique combination of soft needles and the uniform shape make this species a popular choice as a Christmas tree.

Care
The Abies nordmanniana prefers a cool and humid climate. They thrive on well-drained, acidic, and moist soil. The trees require full sun or partial shade to grow optimally. It's important to know that this species generally grows slowly and is sensitive to drought. Planting is preferably done in early spring or autumn to increase the chances of survival.
