DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Asparagus densiflorus 'Cwebe' hails from South Africa. It is predominantly found in the eastern part of the country, in areas such as the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal. Although the Asparagus genus is often associated with edible vegetables in Western Europe, many species are appreciated for their ornamental value in their native habitats.

Characteristics
The Asparagus densiflorus 'Cwebe' is an evergreen perennial known for its dense, fern-like leaves. The stems are thin and slightly flexible, short and bushy in growth and can reach up to 60 cm in height. The 'Cwebe' variation of the Asparagus densiflorus produces small, white flowers in the summer, which later mature into red berries. This plant has no visible thorns, unlike many other members of the Asparagus genus.

Care
The Asparagus densiflorus 'Cwebe' requires minimal maintenance and is quite hardy. It thrives best in well-draining soil and prefers full to partial sun, yet it is surprisingly shade tolerant. Although it can withstand drought once established, regular watering during the growing season is recommended. However, excess water should be avoided, as it can lead to root rot. It is also advisable to apply a light fertiliser in spring to promote growth.
