Origin
The Anthurium Essencia originally comes from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It belongs to the Araceae family and was brought to Europe in the early 19th century. In the wild, the plant primarily grows as an epiphyte, meaning it grows on branches of other trees, and gets its nutrients from the air and rain.
Characteristics
The Anthurium Essencia is known for its characteristic shiny, green leaves and its striking, brightly coloured bracts, often red in colour. The plant has a compact growth and ultimately reaches an average height of about 40 to 60 cm. The Anthurium Essencia produces new flowers throughout the year, which remain on the plant for a long period.
Care
The Anthurium Essencia prefers a warm spot in the house, but does not tolerate direct sunlight. Indirect light or a position facing north is best. The plant likes a high humidity, so regular spraying is recommended. The soil should always be slightly damp, but be careful with overwatering as this can cause root rot. A balanced liquid fertiliser can be used monthly to promote the growth and bloom of the Anthurium Essencia.
