Origin
Acer palmatum 'Katsura' is a cultivar of the Japanese maple. The species originates from Japan, Korea, and parts of China. ‘Katsura’ was developed through selective breeding for colour and leaf shape. This cultivar is grown worldwide for its ornamental value.

Characteristics
Acer palmatum 'Katsura' is a small deciduous shrub or tree. The leaves are palmately lobed and emerge orange-yellow, turning fresh green in summer. In autumn, the foliage changes to bright yellow or orange. The growth habit is compact and the plant typically reaches a height of two to three metres.

Care
