Origin
The Acer palmatum ‘Orange Dream’ originates from Japan. This cultivar belongs to the maple family (Aceraceae). It was selected for its striking leaf colour. The species is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental shrub or small tree.
Characteristics
Acer palmatum ‘Orange Dream’ is a deciduous shrub or small tree that can reach a height of around 250 cm. In spring, the young leaves have a striking orange-yellow colour. During summer, the leaves turn light green, and in autumn, they change back to orange or yellow. The leaves are deeply lobed and have a fine texture.
Care
This plant grows best in a bright position, preferably in partial shade. A moist, well-draining soil is recommended. Protection from strong winds and the intense midday sun will help to prevent leaf scorch. During dry spells, regular watering is needed to prevent the soil from drying out.
