Agave ferdinandi 'Regis'
Green/gray
5AGFRKK50
Origin
The Agave americana 'Franzosinii', also known as the American Agave, has its origin in Mexico. The plant is a member of the Asparagaceae family, capable of thriving in both dry and humid climates. This variety is specifically selected for its unusual appearance and growth habits. It is also a popular ornamental plant in several other countries, particularly in Southern Europe, South Africa, and the southwestern United States.
Characteristics
The Agave americana 'Franzosinii' is a perennial plant noteworthy for its large, thick and fleshy leaves. These leaves sport a beautiful, light blue colour and grow in a rosette shape. The leaves are lined with sharp spines, with a particularly pungent spine at their tip. From the centre of this rosette, a large flower stem can rise up, which can grow up to four meters high and is covered with yellow flowers.
Care
The Agave americana 'Franzosinii' is a plant that requires little care. It tolerates both full sun and partial shade and can grow on nearly any well-drained soil. As it's a succulent, this plant requires little water and is exceptionally drought-tolerant. Special agave fertilisers can be used to promote growth but are not essential. Regular fertilisation can even be harmful to the plant.
