Aloe arborescens
Stem
5ALARKK37
Origin
The Aloe 'Hercules' is a hybrid Aloe plant, grown from the crossbreeding of Aloe barberae and Aloe dichotoma. The plant was originally found in parts of South Africa and the southern regions of Namibia.
Characteristics
The Aloe 'Hercules' is a large, tree-like species that can grow to a height of 6 meters, with a thick trunk and a dense network of branched branches. The leaves are blue-grey in colour and can grow up to 60 cm long. The plant bears clusters of red flowers in the winter that are attractive to birds and bees.
Care
The Aloe 'Hercules' requires very little water and is highly drought-resistant, similar to cacti. However, it is not frost hardy and should be brought indoors at temperatures below freezing. The plant thrives best in light conditions but should be protected from the scorching midday sun to prevent leaf burn. Care also requires a well-draining soil. Overwatering can cause root rot.
