Origin
The Agave potatorum Ouhi-Raijin variegata is a type of Agave cactus originally from Mexico. It is a succulent that, in its natural habitat, can be found on rocky slopes and in dry desert areas. This plant is also known as the “Butterfly Agave”.

Characteristics
The Agave potatorum Ouhi-Raijin variegata is a small to medium-sized plant that typically measures between 30 to 60 centimetres in diameter. It has wide, fleshy leaves that are green with white to yellow edges. These leaves also have sharp thorns on the edges and a sharp point at the end. The plant has a rosette configuration, with leaves that fan out from a central bud.

Care
The Agave potatorum Ouhi-Raijin variegata requires minimal care. The plant likes full sun but can also thrive in light shade. It needs well-draining soil and infrequent watering as over-watering can cause root rot. During the winter, the plant should be brought indoors or protected from frost and heavy rain.
