Origin
The Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is an elegant succulent from the Crassulaceae family and it originates from the rocky regions of Mexico. The name 'Ebony' refers to the almost black colour that the leaves can acquire under optimal growing conditions. This plant is also known as 'Black Echeveria'.
Characteristics
The Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony’ can be recognised by its leaf structure; thick and waxy, with a sharp point. It distinguishes itself from other Echeveria species by its striking colour palette, ranging from bright green to deep purplish black. The plant can bloom from late spring to early summer, during which it produces red to pink flowers on upright stalks.
Care
The Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' requires a minimum amount of care. It thrives best in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Overwatering can cause root rot, so it is important to be careful with watering and ensure that the soil dries out completely between watering sessions. This plant is frost hardy and can tolerate temperatures down to minus 5 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to move the plant to a cooler place during the winters to prevent the leaves from becoming soft.
