Origin
The Echeveria Shira is a type of succulent hailing from the Crassulaceae family. Initially, the plant originates from the dry areas of Mexico and Central America. The plant is named after the 18th-century Mexican botanist Atanasio Echeverría y Godoy. Over the centuries, the plant has found its way into many gardens and homes worldwide.
Characteristics
The Echeveria Shira is known for its interesting leaf shape. The leaves form a compact rosette and have a bluish-green colour that can vary depending on the amount of sunlight they receive. The plant is characterized by its flowering stems that rise above the leaves in late spring. The flowers of the Echeveria Shira are bell-shaped, brilliantly pink in colour, and have bright yellow centres.
Care
In terms of care, the Echeveria Shira requires little attention and is very suitable for the novice gardener. The plant thrives best in a sunny environment and cannot tolerate frost. Well-draining soil is important for the plant, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot. Watering is minimally needed, typically only during the summer months when the plant is actively growing. The plant can multiply through seed or by cutting off a leaf and replanting it.
