Origin
Euphorbia erytrea originates from the eastern part of Africa, particularly Eritrea and surrounding regions. The plant naturally grows in dry, rocky areas. It belongs to the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae). Euphorbia erytrea is also known as Euphorbia eritrea.
Characteristics
This plant has an upright, columnar growth habit and can reach several metres in height. The stems are thick, fleshy, and feature prominent ribs with short thorns. The colour of the stems ranges from green to grey-green. Euphorbia erytrea does not have true leaves, but can develop small leaf-like structures along the edges of the ribs.
Care
Euphorbia erytrea requires a sunny spot with plenty of light. The plant is drought-tolerant and only needs to be watered sparingly. Well-draining soil is essential to prevent root rot. The plant thrives best at a consistently warm temperature.
