Origin
The Euphorbia erythrea, also known as the candelabra cactus, is a plant native to the dry areas of East Africa. This species is particularly found in countries such as Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. The plant has adapted to life in these hot and dry conditions. It has learned to survive periods of drought by storing water in its trunk.

Characteristics
The Euphorbia erytrea is a striking and architectural plant that can reach a height of up to 2 metres. It has thick, upright stalks with clear ridges. These stems are studded with small, brown thorns. The leaves are small, oval-shaped and grow in a spiral arrangement around the stems. The plant does not have flowers, but produces small, round, red fruits.

Care
The Euphorbia erytrea prefers full sun or semi-shade and grows best in well-drained soil. Too much water can cause root rot, so it is essential to ensure that the soil is completely dry before watering again. During the winter months, it is advised to limit the amount of water. Due to its origin from a dry climate, the plant is well resistant to dry air and therefore suitable for heated indoor spaces.
