Origin
The Euphorbia ingens marmorata originates from southern Africa, particularly from regions in South Africa and neighbouring countries. In the wild, this plant mainly grows in dry savannah areas and on rocky slopes. The genus Euphorbia includes many species worldwide, of which this is a well-known example.
Characteristics
The Euphorbia ingens marmorata is a succulent with a striking, tree-like appearance. It has thick, upright green stems with marbled light green to greyish-green markings. Along the ribs of the stems there are short spines. When mature, the plant can reach a height of several metres and usually branches from the base.
Care
The Euphorbia ingens marmorata requires plenty of light and also tolerates direct sunlight well. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. The plant grows best in well-draining, sandy soil. Over-fertilising or prolonged wet conditions are not tolerated.
